Hi there, I’m Jodi! Thanks for stopping by. I launched this blog in April 2017 during a six month trip in SE Asia. The original intent was to share my experience working as a location independent digital nomad while traveling the world. As luck would have it, I didn’t actually become nomadic. But since that time, and because of my time in Asia, I have changed the purpose of the blog and what I intend to share. Just like life, everything changes, and so is the blog.
Current thoughts for the blog are twofold. The first is to keep you up to date on my whereabouts and to share my travel stories with you. I generally intend to be somewhere in the world (at any given point, those whereabouts are likely to change). I also want to share how my life has changed since completing a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Ubud on the magical island of Bali, Indonesia. Yoga and meditation have changed my life for the better, and I want to help my readers implement some of the same strategies I now practice.
While the main point of the blog is to provide guidance on the benefits of yoga/meditation and how to maintain a balanced lifestyle, I intend to weave in my travel photography and travel stories to keep the topics entertaining. So stay with me to learn how to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle, and enjoy the ride.
Originally from the state of Connecticut in the USA, for the past 13 or so years, I have maintained permanent residence in Washington, DC. I have loved my time in DC, but my intuition is telling me to leave. I’m not exactly sure where I’m off to next, but you will be the first to know when the official decision has been made. Okay, maybe the second or third.
I have a masters degree in public health, where I have used my degree for the past ten years to work in the health policy and IT arena. I have two bachelor degrees - one in social policy and the other in psychology. While I haven’t utilized my psychology degree since graduation, I am now very interested in the mind and how our thoughts influence our perception and direct us to act. Combining that with my recently obtained Yoga Teacher Training certificate from Blooming Lotus Yoga in Bali, I am even now more interested in yoga, energy, the ayurvedic lifestyle, healthy eating, obtaining a higher level of consciousness, and meditation. I am excited to share my knowledge of these topics with others.
I have practiced yoga for over ten years in the Washington, DC area. My favorite type of yoga in the past was Anusara, although I know that type is no longer claimed. As for meditation, my experience spans a few years. A very tumultuous relationship led me to meditation, and while that experience was pretty terrible, I think it happened for that reason. It led me to meditation, which has altered the course of my life.
In May of 2016, I received a certificate in Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction. During that course, I was trained in various mindfulness meditation techniques, which I enjoy sharing with others. This is a great course if you are interested in learning how to meditate. Since the MBSR course, I have participated in numerous silent meditation retreats both in the US and Bali. I highly recommend being silent to tap into your soul.
I am constantly pursuing knowledge and learning what it means to be present. I am constantly practicing. Life is a practice. If you approach life in this fashion, it can be very enjoyable. Life is not that serious, but our thoughts and emotions often cloud reality. We are not our minds. Life is a beautiful, flowing, perfect reality. When we don’t fight changes in our life, life can become effortless. It leads to less suffering and more love. In the blog, I will share my tips and tricks to help you maintain this sense of balance and peace in your life too.
I am a yogini. I am a creative; a writer, photographer, and musician. In my photography, I share a story, and weave my photos throughout the blog. I am a solo traveler, at this point having traveled to over 20 countries and countless cities throughout the world. I love learning about new cultures and myself in my travels. I am an aunt to three amazing nephews, a daughter to the best mother and father, a sister to two loving best friends. When traveling, I miss my family immensely, so it is often tough to stay away for too long. I am a lover; of life, of all beings, of love. I am a nature lover, a newfound vegan, and a dreamer. The only thing keeping us from what we desire is ourselves.
I currently offer private instruction in yoga and meditation. Please reach out to me if you would like more information about my lessons.
I chose the name Infinite Exploration to denote a few things. Always exploring ways to improve my life and better myself and the world, I am infinitely exploring ways to expand my mind and being. I am always learning new things and ways of life through reading, traveling, interacting with others, and through quieting the mind. As I’ve learned in the last year, so much knowledge and insight can be gained by doing less as opposed to more.
The story behind the slogan “create your own reality” is actually pretty interesting. When I created the logo and slogan in late 2016, I truly believed that one can create their own reality. I believed it so much, I even tattooed the Celtic symbol with that meaning to the back of my neck.
Naturally, after permanently tattooing my body, in Bali I discovered that it’s more about “uncovering your own reality.” We can only do so much creating. It is actually best not to force things. Rather, it is better to be in the flow with life, not resisting what is. So while we can certainly create our own reality to a certain extent, if we start forcing that creation when it is just not ready to be created, it will lead to suffering.
So take the slogan with a grain of salt. While creating your own reality does hold some weight, it is more meaningful and fruitful to uncover what already is. Get away from those thoughts and perceptions clouding what is, and get to the heart of the matter. Take it to your heart, listen to your intuition, and trust your gut instincts. Then you are in flow with what already is and can more authentically create your own reality.
With love,
Jodi
